 After Effects

A Collection of Short Stories

Zimbell House Publishing is holding open submissions for short stories to be featured in this upcoming collection of tales that share a common theme: Ruins and the after effects.

In this collection, we are looking for well-crafted stories that will tell a tale of either a life in ruins, a society in ruins, or dig deeper and spin an archeological tale featuring ruins. Once the story has been explained as to the why of the ruins (how the ruins came about), we also require the end of the story(ies) to explain the After EffectsExample: The American Civil War – where the North marched through the South and left it in ruins, with the after effect being the re-building and a new way of life.

Again, we are looking for well crafted tales, with characters and plots that are believable and fully developed.

Submissions of both short stories and novelettes to this anthology are welcome, please keep in mind the minimum word count is 5.000 and the maximum word count is 20,000.

This anthology is a great opportunity to showcase emerging writers and allow them to build their professional platforms.

Submission Deadline: June 15, 2017 with a targeted release date of early August 2017.

There is no fee to submit for this anthology.

Submit your best work.  We will be doing light editing as necessary to fit the standards we strive to maintain.

Submission Guidelines:

  • No work may be more than 20,000 words.  Please watch your word count.  Submissions over this word count will be disqualified for this anthology.
  • The work must not have appeared in print or online anywhere before.
  • All submissions must be in English.
  • Each author may submit up to three (3) unique works-please submit them separately.
  • Work must be in Microsoft Word or RTF, double spaced, 12 point font.

All contributing authors will receive a free copy of the book in softcover.  Authors that are chosen for the anthology will not be paid nor receive royalties for their submission.  Again there is no charge for the submissions.  This is an opportunity to build your platform.

Submission Deadline: June 15, 2017.

Morsels from the Chef

A Collection of Delectable Short Stories

Zimbell House Publishing is holding open submissions for this tasty anthology of short stories about chefs, from the restaurant to the private home, from their struggle to get through culinary school, to opening their own business, we want to know what the character’s favorite dish is to prepare, what their professional and private lives are like.
