Zimbell House Publishing and Temptation Press do require an author investment. We are your publishing partner, and our staff doesn't work for free. As you can see from our publishing deliverables, we provide professional services for each of our authors. We don't up-charge, we don't offer levels of service or tiered pricing. Our goal is to sell books. Not only do we split the cost of publication, we split the royalties, on the very first book sold - 50/50. If we were to absorb the entire cost of publication, two things would happen:
- We would have to recoup our investment before any royalties would ever be paid out (sometimes this can take years as momentum for your book grows).
- We would have to offer a smaller royalty.
Zimbell House Publishing and Temptation Press will not cut corners with your manuscript. Normally we can produce a quality product in about six to nine months. There are times that we try to coincide a release with a particular date that an author requests, and this situation could push the publication date back a bit.
While we would love to be your sole publishing partner, it may not be feasible nor desirable. We want our authors to experience as much success as possible in all their endeavors.
Your success is our success.
The author owns their copyright and all other rights except the following:
Zimbell House Publishing (or their imprint, Temptation Press) has the exclusive right to sell and distribute globally the title in both printed and electronic forms, in the English language for the duration of the agreement.
Zimbell House Publishing (or their imprint, Temptation Press) has the exclusive right to establish sales channel relationships for the sole purpose of selling/distributing said title in printed and electronic forms.
Audio rights, translation rights, and movie rights are owned by the author.
Twice a year, in January and July.
On the very first book sold, you will begin earning 50% of net proceeds. The earnings will be held in escrow and paid out in January and July every year.
Both Zimbell House and Temptation Press partners with their authors for a term equal to the length of the copyright.
Our Agreements are based on the title, not the author-thus eliminating rights of first refusal.
Both Zimbell House and Temptation Press provide a trade paperback edition of your manuscript along with a Kindle (mobi.) eBook edition and an ePUB edition (for all other reading devices).
We may, at the Publisher's sole discretion, publish a Large Print and/or Hardcover edition(s) for feasible titles.
If you are declined by either Zimbell House Publishing or Temptation Press, you will receive an email stating why we were unable to accept your submission with a brief evaluation of the work. At that time, we will archive your submission for one month. At the end of the one month period, we will delete the file from our servers.
If you are one of the lucky few that are accepted, you will receive an email stating you have been accepted and an author agreement will be attached. We leave the submission active for thirty days. If we do not hear back from you, the offer will be rescinded and the submission will be coded as withdrawn. After another month passes, we delete the file from our system. However, if you decide to move forward with us as your publishing partner, the files are moved to our permanent servers for the duration of the author agreement.
Both Zimbell House Publishing and Temptation Press allow for simultaneous submissions. We do, however, ask that you withdraw your submission if you are accepted elsewhere before we have contacted you with our evaluation.
When we receive your submission, it is sent to our acquisitions team. You will receive an automatic response stating that we did indeed receive it. It takes the team roughly five to six weeks to read and discuss your submission to make a determination/evaluation.
Both Zimbell House and Temptation Press utilizes two submission sites to keep track of our submission process: Submittable.com or Authors.Me
You may log into the portal as often as you wish to see if any updates have been made before we decline/accept your manuscript.
